WASHINGTON – A new report by the Organic Trade Association (OTA) projects U.S. sales of organic foods will continue to grow through 1018, the Washington Times reports.

According to the OTA, roughly 81% of U.S. families currently purchase organic food, citing heightened concerns about the usage of pesticides, genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and antibiotics in food.

The OTA’s new report, “United States Organic Food Market Forecast & Opportunities 2018,” projects that the organic food market in the United States will grow at the compound annual growth rate of about 14% from 2014-18.

Organic produce will dominate the increase, while the demand for organic meat, fish, and poultry is also expected to rise.

The majority of organic food revenues lie in the western United States, though growing domestic production is expected to lead to strong growth of organic food sales in other regions of the country.
