Coca-Cola Taps the Vault with Ecto Cooler

Fans of ‘Ghostbusters’—the original ’80s version and 2016’s upcoming release—may soon reach for a Hi-C Ecto Cooler.

NEW YORK – CNBC reports that Coca-Cola could be delving into its archives to bring back a nostalgic favorite: Hi-C Ecto Cooler.

The company filed a trademark patent in September for the orange-tangerine flavored drink, which earned approval in November, writes the news source.

Ecto Cooler was originally colored green in honor of Slimer from the first "Ghostbusters" movie, a character the film’s director called a tribute to John Belushi. Earlier this year, Coca-Cola went into its vault after a 12-year hiatus to bring back another fan favorite, citrus-flavored Surge.

Meanwhile, Pepsi played the nostalgia and movie card with its limited edition Pepsi Perfect, a beverage Marty McFly purchased at a diner in “Back to the Future II.”
