New Products Pack Protein

Food and drink makers are putting protein into desserts, duck broth, beverages and baking mixes.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – New products from food and beverage manufacturers have a bit more punch these days as protein is packed into duck broth, baking mixes, beverages and desserts, Food Business News reports. Halo Top Creamery pairs protein with its new Gingerbread House ice cream flavor, while Pacific Foods adds protein to its Organic Duck and Organic Poultry bone broths.

Chef’s Cut Real Jerky Co. debuted its Protein Snack Packs that add dehydrated natural cheese “crisps” with jerky in two flavors: Real Steak Jerky — Original Recipe & Cheddar Cheese and Real Turkey Jerky — Teriyaki & Pepper Jack Cheese. “People who love high-protein, low-fat snacks will love our new Protein Snack Packs,” said Bart Silvestro, chief executive officer of Chef’s Cut. “Our chef-managed team took traditional sandwich and charcuterie pairings of beef and cheddar and turkey and pepper jack and made it into something that’s not only portable, but better-for-you, too.”

Kodiak Cakes recently launched Protein-Packed Cornbread Mix, along with a Power Bake line of muffin mixes in double dark chocolate and blueberry lemon. Après looked to plant protein for its new beverage line with chai spiced vanilla, mint cacao and sea salt chocolate. Old Wisconsin Sausage, Inc. focuses on meat snacks in four product lines: Big Smokey sticks,Natural Cut snack bites, Premium Summer Sausage and Snack Bites.
