FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Thorntons Inc. team members participated in the company’s annual volunteer Humanitarian Day on November 16. This year’s initiative restored the Ann Storck Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The center serves nearly 300 children and adults with physical and mental disabilities.

Partnering once again with Projects With Purpose LLC, Thorntons volunteers renovated a number of the Ann Storck Center’s 25,000 square feet of living and learning space. More than 500 volunteers tackled a variety of jobs to enhance the center, including the installation of sidewalk safety barriers, residential building cleaning and painting, new fence construction, plus the creation of colorful, inspirational murals throughout the facilities.

Down in Texas, the Pinnacle Corporation rolled up its sleeves earlier this month in partnership with the Trinity Habitat for Humanity chapter to frame a home for a deserving family. Thirty Pinnacle employees volunteered over the course of two days to donate nearly 250 hours of service.

“The experience of working with Habitat for Humanity and building a home in our community is consistent with Pinnacle’s view of giving back to the various communities in which we live and work,” said Bob Johnson, president and CEO of Pinnacle, in a press release. “Habitat certainly represents a cause that is worthy of support. Further, it was a great Pinnacle team building experience and offered our people a way to work with each other in a unique way and build a better company, as well as, a better community by creating a new home for one of our neighbors.”
