McDonald’s Revamps Value Menu

The fast-food chain will debut the new selections on Jan. 4

OAK BROOK, Ill. – McDonald’s has redone its value menu in an attempt to bring back consumers, Dow Jones Business News reports. The redesigned discount menu will debut on Jan. 4, 2016.

The new McPick 2 menu will offer only four choices: small french fries, mozzarella sticks, McChicken sandwich and the McDouble sandwich. Customers can order two of those items for $2.

The change comes after McDonald’s has tweaked its value menu to no avail, with its 2012 Extra Value Menu and its 2013 Dollar Menu & More not appealing to customers. “We view the move toward a long-term national value platform as positive for McDonald’s,” said Mark Kalinowski, an analyst with Nomura Securities.

McDonald’s isn’t the only burger chain struggling to come up with a value menu that resonates with consumers. Wendy’s recently announced it had finally discovered the sweet spot: bundled meals between $4 and $6. Wendy’s offers only one deal, the 4 for $4, which includes a junior bacon cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, beverage and fries.

The McPick menu will be on the board for at least five weeks. McDonald’s indicated at that time, the chain could change the items.
