NEW YORK – Kentucky Fried Chicken is testing on-demand delivery with DoorDash, reports CNBC, with an initial test limited to the San Francisco Bay area, Los Angeles and Orange County in California.

“I think consumers really want three things: value, quality food and convenience. I think DoorDash really solves the last one,” KFC's U.S. Chief Information Officer Chris Caldwell told CNBC.

Caldwell said it’s too early to determine whether the DoorDash partnership would expand nationwide, although KFC does plan to go from about 60 to 100 test locations when it expands to the Texas market. He also noted that KFC attempted food delivery many years go.

DoorDash is quickly becoming a presence in the food delivery space, writes CNBC, thanks to its use of data-driven insights and speedy delivery. Since 2013, the company has grown to 18 markets and more than 250 cities. “To bring you hot chicken wings under 30 minutes is a lot harder than it sounds,” DoorDash CEO Tony Xu told the new source.
