ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Across the United States, the convenience retail community is coming together to honor military veterans and current armed services members.

Today, Powell, Tennessee-based Weigel’s invites all veterans and current servicemen and women to enjoy a free cup of coffee. Weigel’s has always supported the military community, and wants to give back to the men and women who have served.

“We want to celebrate and honor our veterans both past and present who have given so graciously and selflessly to sacrifice for our country. It is our way to say thank you,” said Bill Weigel, chairman of Weigel’s, adding, “and we are honored to have the opportunity to show our gratitude.”

Buffalo, New York-based Delta Sonic Car Wash, along with 2,800 car washes across the nation, is providing free Super Kiss Car Washes and free oil changes to all military veterans and active service men and women today. Offering free car washes on Veteran’s Day is part of a national campaign called Grace for Vets, which was started in 2004 by Mike Mountz, former owner of Cloister Wash and Lube in Ephrate, Pennsylvania.

Delta Sonic believes that it is important to remember those who have served: “This is our ninth year providing free car washes on Veteran’s Day and the sixth year offering free oil changes. It is a great way for us and our employees to give back to those who have given so much” said Kim Canna, director of marketing.

Quaker Steak & Lube is honoring veteran and active duty service members with free or discounted meals on Veterans Day at participating locations.

"It's our honor to have this opportunity to show those who have served, and are currently serving, how much we appreciate their sacrifice," said John Ponczoch, senior vice president of TravelCenters of America's TA Restaurant Group, which owns and franchises Quaker Steak & Lube. "It's beyond admirable for our service men and women to leave their homes and families to enlist in a military branch. It deserves recognition.”

Sheetz is inviting all veterans and current servicemen and women to enjoy a free 6-inch turkey sub and a regular size fountain drink at all Sheetz locations, by presenting a military ID or proof of service. Sheetz stores that offer car washes will also offer a free car wash to Veterans and active duty military personnel on Veterans Day.
