Call to Action: Make Your Voice Heard on Online Lottery Legislation

Time is running out to contact your legislators about the business impact of online lottery sales.

November 11, 2014

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Are you concerned about the impact of online lotteries on your in-store sales? If you aren’t, you should be. NACS needs your help to keep the issue of online lottery sales on the front burner as Congress returns from its lengthy recess. Time is of the essence, as Congress is only expected to be in session for about three weeks between now and the end of the year.

One item that Congress should finish is the “Restoration of America’s Wire Act” (HR 4301 & S 2159).  This legislation would restore nearly 50 years of law and reverse a 2011 Department of Justice decision that has allowed a proliferation of online gambling in the United States — including online sales of lottery products.

Please take two minutes to make your voice heard by sending a pre-drafted letter to your federal legislators, encouraging them to support the passage of this law before the end of the year. Legislators want to hear first-hand from their constituents about how this law will support continued customer traffic in their district’s convenience stores.
