YORK, Pa. – Rutter’s recently hosted the grand opening of its newest store in Hamburg, Pennsylvania. During the ribbon cutting ceremony, the convenience retail chain donated $3,000 to local charities.

Each recipient received $1,000, including the Hamburg Police Department, the Union Fire Company No. 1 of Hamburg, and the Northern Berks Food Pantry, which will use the contribution to provide 100 families hams for Christmas.

Attendees at the event included Congressman Charlie Dent, State Representative Jerry Knowles and State Senator David Argall.

“Our grand openings are more than just a celebration of a new store. We give donations to local organizations as a way to say thank you to our newest Rutter’s community. We are a family-run business for 10 generations and 269 years. Giving back to communities we serve is part of our value [system] and culture,” said Derek Gaskins, Rutter’s chief customer officer.

The new Hamburg store is the 65th Rutter’s location and the first Rutter’s store in Berks County. The store is the first convenience store in Berks county to sell beer, featuring a 29-degree Rutter’s Beer Cave stocked with a variety of craft, import and domestic beer and cider available in singles, 6- and 12-packs.
