ATLANTA, GA – Coke is partnering with vintage designer Dr. Romanelli (aka DRx) to launch a line a line of high-priced clothing dedicated to the beverage maker’s brand heritage, Adweek reports.

The 200-piece Romanelli “Coca-Cola by DRx” collection was inspired by clothing that Romanelli found in flea markets and vintage stores from around the world. The line includes bomber and biker jackets and vests with price tags that range from $450 to $1,650. T-shirts will be available at $35-$50.

The streetwear ties in elements of the 1960s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s and is debuting in stores in New York, Paris, London, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, Toronto, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

This is not the first clothing venture for Coke, which has collaborated with D&G, Jack Spade, JCDC, Uniqlo and Marc Jacobs.

Merchandising plays a substantial role for the global beverage maker, with global merchandise sales that top $1 billion annually.

According to Kate Dwyer, head of global licensing at Coca-Cola Company, her division grew 16% last year, which followed a 56% jump the previous year. "This year," Dwyer said, "we are positioned to grow another 10 percent."

More than 500 million Coca-Cola brand products are purchased annually.
