FRAMINGHAM, MA and SMITHTOWN, NY – As part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Gulf Oil LP is bringing its national support for breast cancer research and awareness to new levels this year.  In addition to being a national partner, Gulf is sponsoring numerous regional fundraising walks for the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” campaign.

Gulf Oil and Gulf dealer Benit Fuel, a family-owned company that has been distributing petroleum products since 1928, took the lead to raise thousands of dollars and recruit scores of “Team Gulf” walkers from Gulf stations and dealers throughout Long Island for last weekend’s Making Strides of Jones Beach” walk.

The Gulf Oil Giving Foundation is raising funds for the American Cancer Society through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks throughout its 29 state service area. In addition to being a Flagship Sponsor of the October 6 walk in Boston, Gulf employees, dealers and partners have fielded teams from New Hampshire to Florida.

“We are extremely proud of our involvement in the vital work of breast cancer research, and to be raising much-needed funds for the Making Strides campaign that makes a difference in the lives of millions of men and women and their loved ones,” said Rick Dery, senior vice president and chief sales and marketing officer for Gulf.

Participating Gulf stations on Long Island also have collection jars prominently displayed, making it easy for customers to donate to the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer research and awareness programs.
