ADELAIDE, Australia – Leave it to the Aussies to come up with a beverage packing enough caffeine to keep you awake for 18 hours. Viscous Coffee has developed an iced coffee drink called “Asskicker” that contains five grams of caffeine—more than 12 times the daily recommended limit, Thrilllist.com reports.

Owner Steve Bennington said the jacked up java should be slowly drunk over a three- to four-hour period to provide “fuel” for 12 to 18 hours. Bennington created it in response to a request from a shift worker who needed to pull an unexpected overnight shift.

Meanwhile, over in South Korea, coffee ice cubes are becoming the next big thing in coffee, Extracrispy.com reports. Coffee ice cubes have been popular for a while among home coffee afficiandos, but no company has attempted to offer them on a large scale until now.

South Korean Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Donuts plunk coffee ice cubes into iced coffee drinks. The cubes aren’t merely frozen coffee. Krispy Kreme has an Original Coffee Cube, a Latte Cube and a Macchiato Cube (frozen milk drizzled with caramel).

Dunkin’ Donuts has an iced caramel macchiato with frozen coffee cubes plus one with cubes of chocolate. In addition to the coffee drinks with coffee ice cubes, Dunkin’ Donuts also offers Red Orange Ade with citrus-flavored red cubes and Blue Lemonade with blue ice cubes.

Even some independent cafes have jumped into the iced coffee cube game with their own versions—but not South Korean Starbucks, so it may be some time before coffee ice cubes really take off.
