TULSA, Okla. – QuikTrip Corp. has been conducting a pilot QT Kitchens drive-thru at a Tulsa location, Nation’s Restaurant News reports. The convenience store operator is now looking at the results of that experiment, which was conducted in a former Wendy’s.

“This is a test location to evaluate operations and determine customer acceptance,” said Kelly Cooper, QuikTrip spokeswoman. “The response has been very good.”

The move comes as QuikTrip, along with other convenience retailers, has shifted its focus away from gasoline to foodservice. “Earlier this year, QT opened its first non-fuel location in Atlanta as another way to meet the needs of its customers in Midtown,” which also has a QT Kitchen, Cooper said.

QuikTrip debuted QT Kitchens two years ago, and finished the conversion of most locations last year. QT Kitchens are open from 6 am to 10 pm, serving hot sandwiches, pizza and grilled chicken salads. The chain operates more than 700 locations in 11 states.
