SEATTLE – Amazon has long eyed the foodservice delivery industry, but its Amazon Restaurants hasn’t made much headway. Late last week, Amazon announced it would partner with Olo, an online food ordering business with 200 restaurant brands and 40,000 locations, FSR Magazine reports.

“We’re thrilled to work with Amazon to provide Olo’s base of restaurant customers with a new delivery sales channel that drives increased visibility,” said Noah Glass, founder and CEO of Olo. “Amazon’s obsession with providing great customer and restaurant experience supports the evolving expectations and behaviors of today’s consumer.”

Already, more than 60 million customers tap into Olo for ordering ahead from such restaurant chains as Wing Stop, Sweetgreen, Red Robin, Shake Shack, Noodles & Company, Chipotle and Applebee’s.

“The integration with Olo will allow us to quickly expand our offering with Amazon Restaurants to even more locations enabling more customers to get our delicious, quality dishes delivered right to their doorstep,” said Trish Giordano, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Earl Enterprises. Buca di Beppo is the only chain that indicated it would use Amazon Restaurants.

Olo will post menus and handle ordering, while Amazon would take care of the delivery aspect. The news source writes that Olo also has a strong full-service restaurant presence, and with this partnership, appears poised to shake things up in off-premise dining.
