DUBLIN, Ohio – A recent Fast Company article provided a first-hand view of the latest strategy from Wendy’s, to conquer the competitive world of fast food. Hint: It involves smoked meat, and lots of it.

The author describes the fast-food chain’s top-secret “Innovation Center,” where the company is testing three new BBQ pulled pork dishes involving various forms of the meat with additions such as cheese-sauce drizzled French fries, cole slaw and a brioche bun, and their version of a cheeseburger.

Wendy’s will begin rolling out its new pulled pork menu in its 6,000 locations nationwide this week, hoping to add to the positive trend the company has seen recently, as its sales rose 1.9% last year while top two McDonald’s and Burger King saw declines.
