NEW YORK – Nation’s Restaurant News reports that Baskin Robbins, owned by Dunkin’ Brands Group, is testing ice cream delivery through DoorDash.

Dunkin’ Brands Group CEO Nigel Travis told the news source this week that delivery has a bright future for both Baskin-Robbins and its sister brand, Dunkin’ Donuts.

“I see delivery working extremely well in Asia,” Travis told the news source. “In the U.K., everyone’s talking about delivery. It has a very big future in the restaurant industry, not only in QSR, but in casual dining and also very high-end restaurants. If you go to London, just about every restaurant has delivery now.”

Dunkin’ Donuts has been testing delivery in six U.S. markets via DoorDash, and Baskin-Robbins is using the third-party delivery provider for its test.

Travis said that for both food brands, offering delivery is a key feature of the company’s “attempt to drive same-store sales through convenience,” writes the news source, adding that a focus on convenience could help turn around recent declines in in-store traffic.

“The key is on the go,” Travis said. “Dunkin’ will drive convenience more and more in the future.”
