WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Today, Kum & Go opens its new 5,000-square-foot convenience store in Des Moines, Iowa. To celebrate the opening, the first 99 customers will receive coupons for 99-cent whole pizzas, redeemable at the new location.

Kum & Go stores are designed to save energy and water through the company’s commitment to sustainable practices. New stores, such as this one opening in Des Moines, are constructed and submitted for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. Kum & Go now has more than 100 LEED-certified stores, more than any convenience store chain in the world.

“At our core, Kum & Go has a tradition of operating our locations as sustainable as possible,” Sara Kurovski, Kum & Go manager of sustainability, told NACS Daily. “From our 100 LEED-certified stores to our selection of alternative fuels, we are dedicated to bettering each community we serve through our commitment to sustainability.”

The new store is also designed to provide fast and friendly service for customers, offering a wide array of freshly made-to-order pizzas, baked goods and breakfast and deli sandwiches—all prepared daily in Kum & Go’s onsite kitchen.

Outside, a variety of fuel options give customers more value and choices at the pump, including diesel, E85 and E15 (only 120 locations nationwide offer E85). Over the next two years, Kum & Go plans to make E15 available at more than 65 stores across Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma and South Dakota.

Kum & Go now has 157 stores throughout Iowa.
