PLANO, TX – Dr Pepper announced last week the kickoff of its 2013 Tuition Giveaway, the sixth consecutive college football season during which it will award more than $1 million in tuition to students across the country. The beverage maker is inviting students to submit their story online — “your one of a kind story and how you plan to make an impact on the world” — for a chance to win a variety of prizes, including one of four $100,000 grand tuition prizes.

“We’re passionate about our longstanding involvement in college football – and even more passionate about helping one-of-a-kind students pay their college bills,” said Brent Chism, director of brand marketing for Dr Pepper. “Tuition at the typical public university has risen more than 40% over the past 10 years—a staggering statistic that motivates the Dr Pepper team to work harder each year and help make a difference in the lives of our fans.”

Students submitting a story can then promote it via their social networks, garnering votes from their followers. The five stories with the most votes will each win $100,000 in tuition.

Students who receive at least 50 votes will be invited to submit a 60-second video to the promotion website for a chance to compete for one of four additional $100,000 tuition grand prizes. The company will award several smaller tuition grants, too.
