Looking Into Fuel’s Crystal Ball

Find out what will be the future of fuels—both domestically and globally—during a two-part NACS Show educational session.

August 30, 2016

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – What will be the future of fuels? That’s a question all gasoline retailers should be considering these days, and a two-part educational session on the topic at this year’s NACS Show can help provide some answers.

On Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 8:00 am – 8:50 am, the “Future of Fuels Part 1: The Domestic Outlook” education session will address how the U.S. automobile market is changing. Regulatory and consumer pressures are dramatically shaping the vehicle of the future. Lisa Jerram, principal research analyst for Navigant Research, will talk about what consumers will be driving in 2025, and John Eichberger, executive director of the Fuels Institute, will drive home how that will influence what retailers offer in the way of fuel. The session will also provide practical strategies for capitalizing on emerging trends.

The “Future of Fuels Part 2: The Global Outlook” education session will immediately follow from 9:05 am – 9:55 am. During this session, retailers will hear about how the global connections within the fuels market impacts retail prices. Tom Kloza, global head of energy analysis for the Oil Price Information Service, will share what today’s market looks like and his predictions on where oil markets could be headed. Then Steve Przesmitzki, global team leader for strategic transport analysis for Aramco R&D will discuss global trends that will affect the fuels market both in this country and abroad. Both Kloza and Przesmitzki will talk about the next decade of the transportation sector.

Anticipating what will happen in the retail fuels market requires understanding where the automotive industry is heading and how the global market is developing," said Eichberger. "These two sessions provide the best opportunity for retailers to better understand how the fuels market is likely to evolve over the next 10 to 20 years.
