MADISON, Wisc. – As part its continuing effort to “fuel good” in the community, CITGO was a main sponsor of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Madison Muscle Team fundraising event last week in Wisconsin. The relationship between CITGO and MDA is a longstanding one, with CITGO employees, marketers and retailers supporting MDA for more than 29 years, raising more than $180 million through various events.

The MDA Madison Muscle Team fundraising event is a high-profile sports reception where Wisconsin-area athletes join together to put their muscle behind the search to find treatments and cures for 43 neuromuscular diseases. Each participating athlete is paired with an MDA buddy, a local child living with a muscular disease, for an unforgettable evening of one-on-one interaction and fun.

This year’s event featured Miss Wisconsin, Rosalie Smith, on behalf of CITGO, as well as athletes including former Green Bay Packers Gilbert Brown and Santana Dotson, and University of Wisconsin-Madison Badger Men’s Hockey Coach Mike Eaves and Softball Coach Yvette Healy. Through ticket sales and a live auction of memorabilia signed by professional and college athletes, the event raised more than $93,000 for the MDA of Southern Wisconsin.
