NORWALK, CT - Stew Leonard's recently brought in doctors and nurses to one of its Connecticut stores to conduct on-site physicals for its employees, part of its commitment to preventative health, Drugstore News reports.

The physicals began August 2, with two dozen SL associates receiving their annual physical, blood work, and an EKG by a medical team from Inter State Diagnostic. A Spanish-speaking representative was also on-hand to provide translation, when necessary.

The grocery chain has taken an active approach to preventative care for its more than 2,500 employees. It offers on-site cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, mammograms, and flu shots throughout the year, as well as discounts on weight-loss programs, smoking cessation aids, and fitness center memberships, all to both full- and part-time staff. And through August 31, it will give employees up to $500 in Benefit Bucks or money toward their insurance deductible to encourage them to visit their doctor for their annual examination.

Stew Leonard will be the Opening General Session speaker at this year??s NACS Show.
