IRVINE, CA – Building off their successful cross-channel partnership, Taco Bell and Frito-Lay announced earlier this week a new Doritos Locos Taco flavor: Fiery Doritos Locos Tacos (DLT). The new treat will rollout nationwide beginning August 22.

Taco Bell president Brian Niccol explained the company’s choice of its newest taco creation:

“Launching the first two Doritos Locos Tacos were obvious: Nacho Cheese is the top-selling Doritos flavor and our fans asked us for Cool Ranch. For the third DLT, we heard our customers as they told us they wanted something spicy and with flavor,” he said. “[W]e partnered with Frito-Lay to create a DLT that delivers heat, but with a twist, and is available exclusively at Taco Bell.”

Beginning August 22, the new Fiery DLT will be available nationwide for $1.39 (regular – 170 calories) and $1.69 (supreme – 200 calories).

“Only Taco Bell and Frito-Lay could partner together to create the hugely successful Doritos Locos Tacos platform,” said Chris Brandt, chief marketing officer, Taco Bell. “The partnership continues to prove the power of two mega brands working together to create firsts in restaurants and on the grocery aisle.”

Taco Bell has sold more than 600 million Doritos Locos Tacos since the launch in March 2012 and the taco has become a staple on the chain’s menu.
