Two Issuers Back Isis for National Rollout

Following participation in the Isis two-city pilot, Chase and AmEx agreed to join the mobile wallet for its national rollout.

LE PECQ, FRANCE – Following its pilot program in Austin and Salt Lake City, Isis Mobile Wallet has attracted at least two major issuers to help move it forward on a national rollout, NFC Times reports.

JPMorgan Chase Bank announced it would allow its clients of four of its credit cards to load them into the wallet.

That follows an announcement last week by American Express that it would make its Serve account available to the Isis Mobile Wallet.

Isis said other financial institutions will also offer their cards for the wallet.

Participation in the wallet is not free. ISIS is charging SIM rental fees, and issuers must still pay fees to their service managers. As a result, the venture will cost them “much more than what it would cost to issue conventional payment cards,” NFC Times said.

Chase and AmEx both participated in the Isis two-city pilot, and while Isis did not release detailed results for the test, which began last October, AmEx said the trial taught it that “customers love the convenience of tap and pay,” while Chase called it “successful” and that it showed “positive results.”

Capital One also participated in the Isis pilot but has not yet announced whether it will join the national rollout.
