GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. – Dollar General is increasing its commitment to the beauty products category with an expanded lineup of products and a new in-store magazine. Last weekend, the retailer launched the new program with its inaugural A Day of Beauty event in downtown Nashville.

The free community event highlighted the latest hair and make-up products offered at Dollar General stores and featured free product samples, door prizes and beauty tips from experts representing multi-cultural health and beauty brands. The event also celebrated the introduction of BEAUTYCENTS, a new health and beauty lifestyle magazine available exclusively at select Dollar General stores.

"Dollar General is excited to host this free, fun event for our customers who count on Dollar General for great health and beauty products at everyday low prices," said Makia Embrey, Dollar General's senior manager, customer insights. "We are introducing an array of new multicultural hair and beauty products at A Day of Beauty and adding these products to our store shelves at select Dollar General stores, giving our customers more selection and variety as they shop with us for products that will help them look their best and stretch their budget."

The health and beauty category fills an important niche for convenience customers and has remained one of the top categories in sales sorted by gross margin. To learn more, read “A Steady Standby” in NACS Magazine.
