Better-for-You Snack Bars Coming to Market

Hershey’s introduces Brookside Fruit & Nut Bars to address healthier snacking opportunities.

HERSHEY, Penn. – Long known for its confections, The Hershey Company is evolving with consumer trends to introduce products that meet the growing demand for wholesome snacks and protein on the go, made with simple, familiar ingredients.

The company’s newest product, hitting the market this month, is Brookside Fruit & Nut Bars. Following on the success of Hershey’s Brookside Dark Chocolates, the bars are made with ingredients including whole roasted almonds, real fruit pieces and dark chocolate and boast other “good for you” credentials including: gluten-free, no artificial flavors, good source of fiber and antioxidant vitamins, made with real fruit, low-sodium, cholesterol-free, and zero grams of trans-fat.

“People love to snack throughout the day and want a broader range of wholesome options,” said Tony Tyree, vice president, snacks & grocery for The Hershey Company. “They also want to know what’s in their food, how it’s made and where the ingredients come from. Inspired by our consumers’ wholesome snacking preferences, we’ve developed Brookside Fruit & Nut bars which are crafted from simpler ingredients to create an extraordinarily delicious eating experience that can be enjoyed at any time of day.”

Even the packaging furthers the promise of transparency, with a clear window through which consumers can see the texture and ingredients of the snack. Brookside Fruit & Nut Bars are available in three varieties: cranberry with blackberry, cherry with pomegranate and blueberry with acai.
