MINNEAPOLIS – Starting today, Minnesota's minimum wage will go up, the first of a series of increases in coming years. Until today, the state’s minimum wage had been set at $6.15 for large employers and $5.25 for small employers (those with less than $500,000 in annual sales).
As of August 1, employees at large companies must be paid $8 an hour and small employers will now pay employees $6.50 an hour. Additional increases will take effect in August 2015 and 2016, bringing the hourly minimum wage to $9.50 and $7.75, respectively, for large and small businesses.
