Mainstream Mention for PCI Compliance

Bloomberg Businessweek tackles PCI Compliance in a general interest blog posting.

June 14, 2010

NEW YORK - PCI compliance received a high-visibility mention last week in a blog posting at Bloomberg Businessweek.

The posting provided a general overview of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and its pursuit of protecting cardholder data.

Acknowledging the costs associated with gaining PCI compliance, it highlighted resources available to small businesses that reduce its cost and complexity while recommending the following:

  1. Talk to your acquiring bank or business payments advisor to seek their insights into resources that help achieve compliance.
  2. Weigh technology decisions carefully, selecting flexible, "technology-agnostic" solutions that are compatible with your current systems and are likely to work with future systems or upgrades.
  3. Make a long-term commitment, developing a proactive strategy to protect your business's future. "Protecting customer card data requires ongoing effort."

While not offering any new insights for NACS members, the posting highlights the visibility that the issue is commanding. Learn more about PCI compliance.
