CUMBRIA, ENGLAND - VisitEngland has awarded Tebay South the country??s first five-star rating under its Motorway Service Area Star Ratings system, Petrol Plaza reports.

The family-run station is the country??s first to achieve the top rating during a period when there was vast improvement across the board in the quality of England??s stations, with a 19% increase in the number of 4-star stations compared to last year, and 88% of locations earning a 3-star rating or above.

The Motorway Service Area (MSA) rating system includes detailed quality assessments in a range of categories, with three visits per site required before awarding a star rating. After the three visits have taken place, each site receives a report detailing its performance in cleanliness, food, forecourt, retail, service, site and toilets.

Tebay South excelled in every assessment area and received particular accolades for its cleanliness, customer service and food. The station employs its own butchers who purchase fresh beef and lamb from an adjacent farm and an onsite café serves home-baked break and cakes.
