NEW YORK – Business Insider reports that Walmart is testing “a giant self-serve kiosk” in the parking lot of an Oklahoma supercenter store that allows customers to pick up online grocery orders.

There is no cost for picking up groceries, but customers must spend at least $30 per order to use the service. The kiosk is open 24/7, requires no staff, and can fulfill hundreds of customer orders in a single day, Walmart spokesman Scott Markley told the news source.

The kiosk has refrigerators and freezers inside that keep the groceries fresh. To retrieve an order, customers walk up to the kiosk, type in their order code, and the kiosk automatically fetches the order from bins stored inside the 20-foot-by-80-foot unit. If a customer runs into an issue, phone support is available.
