ISSAQUAH, WA - Building on the success of a Seattle location that recently began offering beer and wine, Starbucks announced plans last week to open its first alcohol-friendly suburban store in Issaquah.

The project is a renovation of an existing store and is should be complete in late September. In addition to serving alcohol, the store will also offer an expanded food menu, including charcuterie and a cheese plate.

The store redesign will include the integration of reclaimed wood, a bar fashioned from salvaged telephone poles, and a metal-and-wood part piece inspired by the autumn salmon run. It will also include a children€™s area.

In Seattle, the East Olive Way Starbucks received a high-profile makeover last year and reopened in October. The store offers beer, wine and expanded food offerings.

"It€™s a very mixed-use store. You€™ve got every type of Starbucks customer there, from students to businesspeople to folks meeting with groups after work," Starbucks spokeswoman Stacey Krum said, referring to the suburban location. "Those are passionate customers and we€™re really looking forward to hearing from them what they think."
