LOS ANGELES – Last week, 7-Eleven opened its first location in a U.S. airport, in the pre-security/arrivals area of the Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

"The store had 35 customers waiting for the doors to open and there was a huge rush on fresh foods and proprietary beverages – you know – Big Gulps and Slurpees," said 7-Eleven spokeswoman Margaret Chabris, in news reports.

This is the first in-terminal location for 7-Eleven in the United States, with two more scheduled to open at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). A new retail location will open in DFW’s Terminal A, post-security this fall, with the second location planned for the airport’s E terminal.

The location will be open from 6 am to midnight, designed to serve both departing and arriving passengers and those who greet them, as well as airport employees. The 950-square-foot shop offers all the usual 7-Eleven favorites, including a full range of beverages, fresh sandwiches, salads and snacks, pizza, tacos, chicken wings and hot dogs as well as typical airport amenities such as magazines and newspapers, travel-size personal care products and a variety of over-the-counter medicines for motion sickness and other ailments.

7-Eleven operates 59 stores in airports in 12 other countries, including Canada, where the world's first airport 7-Eleven opened at Vancouver International Airport in 2001 and offers a full-service post office, a lottery outlet and a noodle stand.
