Julie Jackowski of Casey’s General Stores talks about food, community and the retailer’s employees in the latest NACS Convenience Matters podcast.

In this week’s Convenience Matters podcast, “A Conversation with Casey’s General Stores,” cohosts Jeff Lenard of NACS and John Eichberger of the Fuels Institute talk with Julie Jackowski, Casey’s senior vice president of corporate general counsel & secretary, about the company developed a thoughtful community-focused strategy.

Jackowski, who also serves on the NACS Executive Committee, shares how each store can really be a community anchor, emphasizing the importance of giving back to national charities like the American Red Cross and local groups in need like area schools and town infrastructure.

Enterprise risk management is also very important at Casey’s, explains Jackowski, who spends considerable resources on protecting the company’s financial infrastructure. “Being vigilant about this type of security all comes down to making sure we’re protecting the community because we’re engaging with customers on a daily basis and they’re giving us their trust and their money,” she said.
