GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Mansfield Energy Corp. will surpass $6 million raised in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) during its 31st Annual Mansfield Golf Classic on June 6-7.

The Mansfield Golf Classic, held at the Reynolds Lake Oconee, is the largest golf event in the United States benefiting MDA, resulting in more than $5.9 million raised to battle neuromuscular disease. Through Mansfield’s support, 100% of the contributions go directly to MDA for programs and services focused on helping kids and adults live longer and grow stronger.

In 2016, the Mansfield Golf Classic celebrated its 30-year milestone with more than 400 participants, 160 sponsors and donors, 70 volunteers and a concert featuring “American Idol” alum Kellie Pickler.

Mansfield Energy CEO Michael Mansfield Sr. stated, “As we celebrate our company’s 60th year, we are reminded of what makes Mansfield special. Our relationship with MDA and our dedication to their cause certainly tops this list. At Mansfield, we strive to build relationships that matter, and our work with MDA has created strong relationships across the energy industry and beyond. The money raised by the Mansfield Golf Classic over the past 30 years has helped lead to significant breakthroughs that will result in life changing treatments for patients of all ages.”

The 2017 tournament kicks off Tuesday, June 6, with activities for top sponsors including a VIP round of golf with celebrity guests, a VIP reception and dinner with Henry Cho, one of the country's top comedic talents. The night will culminate with the 4th Annual Ed Tessaro Poker Tournament & Casino Night event and a concert featuring chart-topping Australian music hall of fame inductee Little River Band.

On Wednesday, June 7, the main golf event will take place at Reynolds Lake Oconee over three first-class courses designed by golf legends Jack Nicklaus and Tom Fazio. The Mansfield Golf Classic will wrap up with an awards luncheon welcoming leaders from the Muscular Dystrophy Association, as well as inspiring children and their families who live with muscular dystrophy and related diseases every day.
