CONCORD, N.C. – NASCAR fans can relate to speed, which is
why having a convenience store on the track infield during a race that gets
them in and out quickly adds to the race-day experience.
WCNC.com reports that the officials at the Charlotte Motor
Speedway have added a Kangaroo Express convenience store, operated by The
Pantry, on the track infield during major events, like the Sprint All-Star and
Coca-Cola 600. NASCAR drivers such as Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton are
impressed, too.
“It’s a really neat deal going on at Charlotte Motor
Speedway, a Kangaroo Express with all kinds of things for the race fans here on
the infield,” Burton said of the convenience store, which is open 24 hours a
day. He’s also impressed with how much merchandise is packed into a small space.
“There are snacks of all kind of drinks, you also have some
beer for the guys and the gals later in the evening, there are a bunch of soft
drinks, sandwiches, and even breakfast for the kids,” he said.?
Store manager Dean Warber told the news source that the
infield location focuses on convenience for the fans: “Our pricing and
everything is pretty much the same as it is at all our convenience stores,
there is any kind of beverage you can think of, we have water, ketchup,
mustard, if a customer comes in we don't have something they are looking for,
we will take a note we'll get an order will have it on our next truck coming in
here.” ??
Kangaroo Express delivery trucks make daily trips to the
track, and the retailer is offering its signature summer special, the
refillable Roo cup. ??
“This is the best thing that we have, it’s $6.99 for the cup
and then you get 25 cent refills, even here on the infield at Charlotte Motor
Speedway, and at all Kangaroo Express stores,” Warber told the news source, adding,
“This is a neat facility to have here for the fans that camp out, they can come
and get what they need to have an enjoyable weekend.”
