The Most Visited Restaurant in the U.S.? McDonald’s

7-Eleven nabbed the No. 15 spot in terms of foot traffic last month.

OAK BROOK, Ill. – McDonald’s tops the list as the most-visited restaurant in the United States based on foot traffic, according to Placed Insights data, Nation’s Restaurant News reports. Walmart came in first as the most popular retail destination, with more than half of all shoppers dropping by a store each month (Walmart has 4,574 units in the United States).

Last month, 49.8% of Americans ate at a McDonald’s, which has more than 14,000 U.S. locations. The burger chain also spends the most on advertising than other retailers on the list. Coming in number three is Subway, with 34% of Americans stopping by one of the 26,960 U.S. restaurants.

Starbucks came in fourth, with 31.2% of customers coming in for a cup of joe at one of its nearly 7,600 U.S. units. Taco Bell (#8), Burger King (#9) and Wendy’s (#13) round out the restaurant chains on the list.

7-Eleven hit the list in the No. 15 spot with 15.1% of customer visits last month at one of its 7,800 U.S. stores.
