SALT LAKE CITY ?" The Midwest and Great Lakes divisions of Circle K convenience stores raised a total of $1,075,692 for Children??s Miracle Network Hospitals during its April fundraising campaign in stores across 12 states. The amount raised exceeded Circle K??s 2010 total of $937,213 by nearly14 percent.

"Our goal has been to achieve a $1 million campaign. Eight days into the 22-day campaign we knew this could be the year that it would happen. Even with gasoline retails hovering around $4 per gallon in many of our markets, the response from customers and dedication from store associates was astonishing. We are thrilled with the result," said Mark Novak, director of HR and training, Circle K Midwest and Great Lakes Divisions.

"We are proud of Circle K??s commitment to children??s hospitals and congratulate their employees and customers for raising a million miracles for kids in their communities," said Shirley Rogers, vice president corporate development, Children??s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Circle K convenience stores raised the funds for children??s hospitals by selling balloon icons for $1, or larger balloons for a $3, $5 or $10 donation.

Because all donations to Children??s Miracle Network Hospitals stay in the community where the donation was made, 32 children??s hospitals close to participating Circle K locations will benefit from the fundraising campaign. Benefiting hospitals often use Children??s Miracle Network Hospitals funds to purchase life-saving equipment, invest in research or training, or cover the medical costs of uninsured or underinsured pediatric patients.

Circle K has been a partner of Children??s Miracle Network Hospitals since 2003, raising more than $5.9 million for children??s hospitals through different fundraising campaigns.
