YORK, Pa. – Rutter’s Children’s Charities raised more than $165,000 for Central Pennsylvania charities at its 14th annual golf outing, the company announced this week.

Since its beginning in 2002, the two-day outing has raised more than $1.55 million for children’s charities in Central Pennsylvania.  This year’s outing was held at the Out Door Country Club of York and featured several of Rutter’s key suppliers, executives, and family members.  The outing was the most successful yet, and will enable Rutter’s Vote with Your Dollars and Rutters Rewards Schools programs to be fully funded for 2016.

The event also featured three of last year’s large beneficiaries: Make a Wish Foundation, York County Food Bank and Red Cross. Each organization received $25,000 donations from Rutter’s Vote with Your Dollars 2015 program. The Rutters Rewards Schools and Vote with Your Dollars programs both utilize the technology of Rutter’s mobile app, website and loyalty platform and enable customers to login to their Rutter’s Rewards accounts to choose from a list of charities and schools they wish to support. Every dollar spent at the pumps or inside any Rutter’s store with a registered Rutter’s Rewards card or VIP credential counts as a vote towards the customers’ selected organization.

“Working with our key partners to help raise money to support local charities and schools through our annual golf outing is a true passion.  We generated strong support that will allow us to continue to deliver a positive impact on our local communities, this is what Rutter’s Children’s Charities is all about,” said Scott Hartman, Rutter’s CEO and president, and former NACS chairman.

In the past decade, Rutter’s Children’s Charities has donated more than $5 million to support charities in the local communities it serves. Now under the third generation of family leadership, Rutter’s operates 62 convenience stores throughout Central Pennsylvania and a dairy business serving the Mid-Atlantic region with Scott Hartman as president and CEO, Todd Rutter as president of Rutter’s Dairy, and Tim Rutter as president of M&G Realty.
