DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Lottery has begun installing its first new computer terminals in 10 years, Radio Iowa reports.

Lottery CEO Terry Rich said the rollout is taking place at the approximately 2,500 Iowa Lottery retailers throughout the state and must be completed by the end of June so that new software can take effect in July.

The new terminals issue bigger tickets that offer enlarged numbers, which is designed to make identification easier. They also include neon signs at many locations that display the current jackpot amounts for games.

Rich called attention to one particularly innovative feature, a 17-inch video screen at the terminal that runs "Iowa Lottery in Motion," which will tell and show customers how much they have spent or won when they check or buy tickets. The new system will also distribute Amber Alerts to retailers, as the old versions did.

The Iowa Lottery has committed $50 million over 10 years for the new machines.
