Wawa Raises $77,000 for New Jersey Food Bank

The donation will provide more than a quarter of a million meals for children, families and seniors in South Jersey.

PENNSAUKEN – Management and employees of Wawa presented the Food Bank of South Jersey with a check donation for $77,449 through the Check Out Hunger campaign at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Wawa’s full-service Crown Point location.

Of the Wawa locations participating in the Check Out Hunger campaign, 10 of the top 20 fundraisers chain wide were located in the four New Jersey counties of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem.

Check Out Hunger donations collected by Wawa customers are immediately re-invested back into the community to support local food banks. Wawa’s donation will provide more than a quarter of a million meals for the children, families and seniors at risk of hunger in South Jersey.

The Food Bank of South Jersey distributes 10 to 12 million pounds of food annually through its network of more than 250 charitable agencies, food pantries and congregate feeding locations. It also runs nine direct service programs, including Kidz Pack, Kids Café and the Healthy Living Initiative, which also teach children and adults how to create healthy and nutritious meals.
