SAVANNAH, Ga. – While food is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, so is learning about other ways to live well. That’s why Savannah, Georgia-based convenience retailer enmarket has been hosting its Encourage Health Education Series, which has provided a free lunch and lecture to the community four times annually for the past few years.

On Tuesday, June 21, convenience retailer enmarket will host the second of this year’s Encourage Health Education Series presentations titled, “Eat Well and Boost Your Energy With Phytochemical,” featuring Ellen Blossman Ph.D.

“The goal of this presentation is to raise awareness of the role of phytochemicals for our health and inspire the audience to choose nutrient-dense foods that will boost the immune system and, thereby, promote better health,” Blossman said.

While scientific research supports the role of vitamins, minerals and enzymes for our health, Blossman plans to bring attention to another nutritional category called phytochemicals, which contain anti-aging, anti-disease, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties.

Blossman is a certified health coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and is a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She also is certified in Advanced Food Healing Science and a Holy Fire Karuna Reiki Master. She holds a Ph.D. in Spanish literature and language and is co-founder of Blue Heron Holistic Healing in Savannah.

During Blossman’s presentation, Urban Hope Inc., a nonprofit organization focused on helping the inner city children in Savannah create better lives for themselves, was selected to receive the $1,000 enmarket Encourage Health grant.

The presentation is sponsored by enmarket, Healthy Savannah, Sandfly Family Dental, Savannah Morning News, Savannah Magazine, Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. and GPB Savannah–WSVH 91.1/WWIO 89.9. A healthy lunch will be provided to attendees. Attendance is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are required at Healthy Savannah’s website.

Enmarket’s 2016 series of wellness lectures features four presentations throughout the year from the area’s most respected experts sharing insights on nutrition, fitness and general tips for healthy living. Selected 501c3 nonprofit organizations are awarded a $1,000 grant from Encourage Health Education Sponsors and allotted an enmarket Dollar Day, along with a chance to win a grand prize at the end of the series.
