WESTMINISTER,
MD – Baltimore Ravens football fans were out in full force on April 18 to see
long snapper Morgan Cox, punter Sam Koch and kicker Justin Tucker at the Jiffy
Mart “SNAP. HOLD. KICK.” charity autograph signing event. The event helped
raise both funds and awareness for Carroll County Food Sunday.
“In 2012,
Carroll County Food Sunday serviced an average of 430 families a week, handled
20,507 requests for assistance, and purchased 225,238 pounds of food for the
food bank,” according to Ed Leister, chairman for Carroll County Food
Sunday. “That was in addition to the
143,509 pounds of donated food we received, and the 38,918 pounds of food
received from the federal government.”
Tom Moser,
general manager for Jiffy Mart, added, “Carroll Food Sunday also provides milk
vouchers to families, and over half of them are redeemed at Jiffy Mart
locations. Therefore, it’s an honor to
help in the funding of an organization that does so much for our local
families.”
More than
200 people lined up for autographs. Those in attendance were also entered to
win a Terrell Suggs autographed football.
As an added treat, Martins Chips, UTZ Chips, Hershey, and Pepperidge
Farm provided samples to those in line while WTTR was there doing a live radio
show during the event.
The Jiffy
Mart team made a presentation of funds totaling $4,400 to Carroll County Food
Sunday.
