BEND, OR – Kombucha Mama has changed its name to Humm Kombucha and is expanding nationwide, KTVZ.com reports.

The name change comes as the company looks to position its healthful beverage more in-line with its marketplace perception on a national stage. “We wanted something that really captured the essence of the company," said Michelle Mitchell, co-owner with Jamie Danek of Humm Kombucha.

“People hum when they’re happy — it's something everyone knows about, it's a comfort word," added Danek.

Kombucha Mama has seen its fortunes escalating over the past few years, success that Mitchell and Danek hope translates to national success. “We've been sold out of kombucha basically since we started selling it," Mitchell said. “The family has just been growing bigger and bigger and bigger organically … We just wanted everyone to have it.”

Kombucha include microorganisms that some maintain aid digestion. “It balances your system," Mitchell said. "It's a natural detoxifier, and it's super-refreshing and bubbly."??

Bend, Oregon, retailers Kent and Kizer Couch of Stop and Go Mini Mart showed us their successful foray into Kombucha in the 2013 NACS “Ideas 2 Go” program that made its debut at the NACS Show in Atlanta.

The popularity of kombucha continues to grow, especially among the Couch’s female and health-conscious customers. “We are still averaging $5,000 per month with our self-tap dispensing system,” Kent told NACS Daily.
