LOUISVILLE, KY - In an effort to simplify its small-value, low-risk transactions, Dothan, Alabama-based Pepi Food Services is converting all of its vending machines, based at 1,000 clients, to cashless payments, Mobile Payments Today reports.

The company is working with USA Technologies Inc., a provider of wireless, cashless payments, for the conversion, tweaking its machines to accept only plastic cards and NFC mobile payments ?" no cash.

"Our decision to go cashless was really about the customer experience," explained Pepi president Vic Pemberton. "(W)e are always on the lookout for the latest trends and technologies and USA Technologies helps us stay ahead of the curve ?? For example, we have already deployed some of their NFC/contactless and mobile payments technology. When that trend reaches mainstream vending, we want to be ready."

USA Technologies said its terminals are open to all mobile payment platforms, including Google Wallet, ISIS, PayPal and others.
