MADRID - The world??s first "clean" gasoline service station is now open in Madrid, UPI reports. The sustainable fueling station has wool insulation and walls made from 7,000 recycled newspapers.

The furnishings inside the station are composed from recycled plastic and wood shavings. Collected rainwater irrigates and flushes toilets. The lights are all light-emitting diodes, which consume 80 percent less energy than traditional bulbs, said Repsol, the energy company that runs the station.

With this station, Repsol has begun a program to convert more than 500 of its gasoline stations to "clean" buildings.

"Through this initiative, the company will have the largest network of accessible service stations in Spain and one of the largest in Europe," said Repsol in a statement.
