SEATTLE – Starbucks, following a successful test of its Evolution Fresh Smoothies, is expanding the products to 4,300 Pacific Northwest, Northern California and Idaho locations, as well as to select locations inside Target, Albertsons/Safeway and Kroger stores.

Made with Dannon’s Greek nonfat yogurt, the smoothies are made to order in three flavors including Sweet Greens, Strawberry and Mango Carrot, with the option to add fresh kale upon request. CNBC reports that Evolution Fresh Greek yogurt is a proprietary blend for Starbucks that includes three yogurt cultures, instead of the traditional two, according to Jeffrey Rothman, vice president of marketing for Dannon.

Starbucks also announced that new Dannon and Evolution Fresh-branded Greek Yogurt Parfaits will debut in 6,000 Starbucks stores nationwide in May. And later this summer, fruit-on-the-bottom cups of Evolution Fresh-branded Greek yogurts will be available at grocery stores nationwide. Clear packaging will allow consumers to see the “simple ingredients,” notes the company.

Starbucks acquired the Evolution Fresh cold-pressed juice brand in 2011.
