WASHINGTON, D.C. – Harris Teeter recently added home delivery to its Express Lane online shopping experience via a partnership with UberRUSH, Supermarket News reports. Sales from online grocery sites are predicted to reach $13 billion in 2015.

The supermarket chain is testing the process at a Washington, D.C., store, with delivery only available to customers located within a five-mile radius of that unit. Only shoppers using their mobile devices can place orders for UberRUSH delivery.

“Harris Teeter is excited to enhance the online ordering process by offering home delivery,” said Danna Robinson, communication manager for Harris Teeter, an operating division of Kroger. “UberRUSH delivery will help us reach our customers where they are by making the grocery shopping experience even more convenient.”

Through Harris Teeter’s mobile app, customers place an order and select delivery at checkout, which dispatches an UberRUSH driver to pick up and deliver the order. Customers using the delivery option also get updates along the way.
