DENVER - Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper signed a law last week that bans the sale of electronic cigarettes in the state to minors, BusinessWeek reports.
The law means e-cigarettes are now off-limits to people under the age of 18. The change pleased anti-smoking activists, who maintained that e-cigarettes appeal to youth because of their exotic flavors, and they shouldn??t be permitted.
The new law characterizes e-cigarettes as a "tobacco product." Manufacturers offered little resistance to the law, saying they don??t sell to minors anyway.
Colorado becomes the second state, after New Jersey, to restrict e-cigarettes from minors. Arizona lawmakers are considering imposing an age limit, too.
