OKLAHOMA CITY – Last summer, Sonic Drive-In launched a line of Slush drinks with Nerds candy mixed in. They were so popular that the chain says some people still ask to get the crunchy little candies mixed into other drinks, like soda.

Now, according to Associated Press reports, Sonic is planning to add a second candy-drink mash-up this summer. In the meantime, the Nerds are still on menus as a drink add-in for around 30 cents.

Drinks have been a big part of Sonic's growth strategy, with the company letting people mix and match flavors and offering them at half price during certain hours. The company says drinks now represent 30% of its total sales, according to the AP report. More broadly, Sonic has been increasing sales in part by revamping recipes, both savory and sweet.
