ST. LOUIS, MO – Through a new partnership, Welch and the Missouri Lottery are testing lottery ticket purchases at select ATMs throughout the St. Louis area.

The 50 local convenience store chains, including Mobil On the Run, U-Gas and Dirt Cheap, are now offering Powerball and MegaMillions quick pick purchases, with another 50 machines set to launch in Kansas City by the end of March.

A press release notes that the program will drive more foot traffic and transactions at the machines, but also produce some incremental revenue for the retailers. “Stores that typically utilized lottery machines will also see a reduction in store real estate through consolidation of equipment. Locations that still sell lottery at the counter will likely have shorter lines as lottery customers are diverted to the ATM,” said Adam Hobelmann, senior vice president at Welch ATM.
