OAKBROOK, IL - Led by strong sales in Europe and Asia, comparable store sales at McDonald??s rose 3.9 percent last month compared with the same period last year, as consumers were lured by expanded menu offerings, the Financial Times reports.

Sales in Europe jumped 5.1 percent, with those in Asia rising 4 percent, and those in the U.S. up 2.7 percent.

"McDonald??s commitment to connecting with customers around the world continues to drive our sales performance," said Jim Skinner, McDonald??s chief executive.

The Golden Arches said that it is committed to expanding its McCafé options in the U.S. as it hones its image as a beverage destination, while confirming that there has been strong appeal for its healthier options such as oatmeal.

European sales were fueled by a premium beef campaign and the launch of the "Big Tasty" promotion.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Subway overtook McDonald??s as the QSR chain with the most global units.
